Titan Communication Lab Rules & Policies

  • Use of any and all equipment and facilities is a privilege. Please comply with all lab rules and with all requests with the lab administrators. Failure to comply with these conditions may result in the loss of that privilege.
  • Titan Communication computers and equipment are a shared workplace. Please respect the privacy and study needs of your colleagues.
  • All requests for equipment and/or facilities must be made in writing on the proper forms at least 24-hours in advance. Any request made outside this time consideration will be granted only at the discretion of the check-out manager. During the latter weeks of the semester, the advance notice time may increase due to increased demand and request for equipment and facilities. It is the responsibility of the student to be aware of any changes prior to submission of any request.
  • Equipment and labs are for the use of students, faculty, staff and clients of CSUF ONLY.
  • Guests are not permitted to hang out in labs without approval of the lab technician.
  • With equipment check-out, it is the student's responsibility to ascertain that all equipment and serial numbers on the check-out form match those of the actual equipment checked out. Students must double-check the form they are about to sign. If the student signs for an item that is on that list and does not actually check-out that item, the student will still be held liable for its return. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT SIGN FOR EQUIPMENT UNTIL THEY VERIFY ALL ITEMS ARE CORRECT.
  • Unauthorized copying of software, files and materials is prohibited.
  • Students using a special-purpose machine, such as one attached to a scanner or special software, for general use such as word-processing or Internet searching, must give way to a student needing the machine for its particular resources.
  • All facilities must be returned to their default configuration after use. DO NOT UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGE INPUTS, OUTPUTS, CABLE CONNECTIONS, ETC. Violation of this requirement will mean a total ban from future use of those facilities for the duration of the student's academic tenure.
  • Lab assistants are responsible for problems with the hardware, the network, and the operating systems. They are not available to assist with classwork. If you do not understand how to use a specific application, consult the documentation of your instructor.
  • NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN ANY OF THE FACILITIES AT ANY TIME. Any violation will ban the student from future use of the facilities for the duration of the semester.
  • No phone calls may be made outside the (657) area code unless there is prior permission.
  • If a student incurs a fine for late return of equipment (see Late Return Policy), the student will not be allowed to check out nor schedule any equipment or facility until such fine is paid in full. If there is any equipment failure please report to lab technician immediately.
  • Equipment may be checked out on a daily basis for daily use. Only specific courses allow overnight and/or weekend equipment check out. Please consult with instructor.
  • All computers are for editing & research and NOT for recreation. Downloading and viewing of objectionable material is strictly prohibited.
  • Facilities can be reserved in time blocks (see Facilities Time Blocks Schedule). However, in the event no one has scheduled use of that facility following your time block, you may request that time up to the maximum per day allowed (see Facilities Time Block Schedule).
  • Outside of regular class time, all facility requests are on a first-come, first-served basis, unless requested in advanced. Our operation hours for the labs are from 8 am. to 9 pm.
  • In the event a student can not locate the request that was turned in, the student may check the "Denied Request Box" in the forms rack by the check-out room door.
  • No student may sign for someone else's equipment request. If this occurs, the original request form will be voided and a new form will be issued to the second student who will be liable for the safety and security of the equipment.
